TS02: Evolving a TRUST-ed Yoga Therapy Framework: A Common Ground for Everyone
Speaker bio: Ganesh Mohan, MBBS, C-IAYT
The field of yoga therapy has seen much growth and many ideas over the last century, especially in the last two decades. Innovation and change are valuable. So are consolidation and clarity. Can we design a framework of yoga therapy that is “difficult to disagree with?” A system that everyone could find useful, a base that all yoga approaches can connect with?
In this session, we will explore how these aims could be achieved and discuss a yoga therapy framework designed with these goals in mind:
- Thorough —comprehensive enough that it does not miss the essentials
- Realistic —works reliably in practice, under normal conditions without extraordinary requirements
- Universal —based on ideas that everyone can relate to and agree with and not on niche ideologies
- Scientific —backed broadly by current scientific understanding
- Time-tested —enriched and guided by insights and frameworks from ancient knowledge systems
Learning objectives:
- Elucidate the components of a comprehensive model of yoga therapy.
- Describe how a universal approach can benefit yoga therapists as well as yoga therapy clients.
- Explain how a balance of science, tradition, and clinical relevance can inform yoga therapy approaches.
