APS01: Guided Practice: Embodied Journey Through the Prana Vayus
APS01: GUIDED PRACTICE: Embodied Journey Through the Prana Vayus
Speaker bio: Felicia Tomasko, RN, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT
We learn about the prana vayus in our study of yoga philosophy and ayurveda. These can be described as the directionality of movement in the aspects of the body, characteristics of the subtle body, and the five subdoshas of vata. The prana vayus are more than simply directions on the drawings we often see.
Through yoga asana, movement, creative expression, pranayama, and even some spontaneous interpretive dance, we’ll focus on an embodied understanding of the vayus in this dynamic practice. Through breath and movement, we will systematically explore each vayu (prana, udana, samana, vyana, and apana) to develop a greater visceral understanding of seeing and working with these energetic characteristics.
Bring an understanding of the vayus back to your practice and teaching in this upbeat, energizing, and insightful practice. Participants will also take some handouts and materials to use in their personal practice and with clients and students.
