International Association of Yoga Therapists Privacy Commitment
The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to our website and the privacy of our members. It is our goal to ensure that the information you submit to us remains private, and is used only for the purposes as set forth herein. This Statement reflects our commitment to you.
Information About All IAYT Website Visitors
In general, we only gather information about our website visitors collectively, such as what areas users visit most frequently and what services and information users access the most. We only use this data anonymously and in the aggregate. This information helps us determine what is of interest to our visitors, and how we can continually create a better website.
Information About Our Members
We intend to provide basic contact information for our members on our site as a service to members and visitors. All members will be provided the opportunity to opt out of this service. If you initially choose to display contact information and then later decide not to, simply log onto your account and edit your account preferences. If there is any difficulty or error, please Contact Us.
IAYT may collect, for internal use, statistical information about our membership in order that we may better serve them. This may include such information as the distribution of our membership by location, “style”, age, etc., as well as other information an association may reasonably collect in order to better understand and serve its membership.
This statistical information may also be used, in the aggregate, as IAYT works to serve the mission of the organization. For example, we may wish to answer questions such as “What % of our members have been teaching more than 10 years?” or “What % of our members are also health professionals and/or researchers?”
In order to better serve our membership and visitors, IAYT also may survey our members and website visitors from time to time about their preferences and suggestions.
General Information Disclosure
We do not disclose information about your individual visits to the IAYT website or personal membership information that you provide but choose not to display, such as your contact information or professional information, except when we believe the law requires it.
Updating Account Information
IAYT allows you to change or correct your personal information at any time. To do so, simply log onto your IAYT account and you will find options for editing the information you have submitted.
IAYT has an online directory accessible to the public at iayt.org and yogatherapy.health. If you are a credential holder, the directory allows interested parties – including potential clients and employers – to find you. However, you choose how much or how little information you want displayed, as described below.
IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapists (C-IAYTs)
IAYT collects personal information about IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapists (C-IAYTs)) during and after the certification process. C-IAYTs control whether they appear publicly in the directory by managing the online profile in their personal account. For directions about how to manage online accounts, visit: How To Update Your Profile.
Yoga Therapy Member Schools
IAYT collects personal information about Yoga Therapy Schools and their trainees during the membership registration process and after. Some of that information is automatically included in the online directory for each school, specifically: name of school and school locations, city, state, country, and zip code of school locations. Member schools have the ability to manage the information displayed by maintaining the online profile in the school account. For directions about how to manage online accounts, visit: How To Update Your Profile.
