RT2: Pain, Presence, and Practice: Yoga Therapy Meets Modern Pain Science

Leader bios: Amber Kyliuk, Melissa Shah, MPH, C-IAYT, and Olena Bakai, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT

Description: In this dynamic roundtable discussion you’ll be guided through several frameworks for working with persistent pain from the spheres of yoga and holistic health.

We’ll consider what modern pain science offers and how incorporating yoga practices that center neuroplasticity, the vagus nerve, and shifting pain perception can create a sustainable path to supporting people in pain. Attendees will be invited to experience guided, accessible practices for migraines, back pain, and releasing fear that go beyond the physical and address the deeper, more subtle causes of pain. They will also be invited to build practices in small groups for clients and students who experience pain.
