TS05: A Neurodevelopmental Chakra Model: The Minded Institute’s Approach to Yoga Therapy and Psychotherapy

Speaker bio: Heather Mason, MA, MSc, MA, RYT-500, C-IAYT

The Minded Institute, a U.K.-based yoga therapy training school, has created a fully accredited psychotherapy training specifically for certified yoga therapists. Known as Integrated Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP), this course recognizes that while in training, yoga therapists learn a broad range of skills also taught in psychotherapy programs. Adding to this skill base in alignment with U.K. psychotherapy education requirements means that yoga therapists need not repeat training they have already received and can become psychotherapists, expand their scope of practice, and offer a type of psychotherapy that also addresses a range of physical health problems.

These goals can be accomplished, in part, via the creation of a new model of psychotherapy deeply informed by yoga therapy. In this experiential session, Heather Mason will introduce participants to IYP’s unique neurodevelopmental psychotherapeutic model. Participants will also have an opportunity to experience practices that arise from the blending of neuropsychology and yoga therapy.

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand how yoga therapy can form the foundation for a unique model of psychotherapy.
  2. Analyze the value of integrating chakra and kosha models with neuropsychological insights to provide comprehensive tools for assessment and care plans in psychotherapy.

Your purchase gives you access to the recorded session listed below (audio/slides)—plus .5 CE credit.
